On the 16th, Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Shirsky announced on social media that he had attacked a Russian S-300 surface-to-air missile system in the eastern Donetsk region, where fierce fighting continues.
The attack damaged radar equipment and missile launch pads.
Shirsky said, “We are continuing to systematically destroy Russia’s air defense capabilities, creating favorable conditions for the successful use of attack aircraft,” revealing that they are weakening Russia’s air defense system to maximize the attack capabilities of F-16 fighter jets, which are scheduled to be deployed soon.
“At least 650,000 Russians have left the country to avoid mobilization” report
On the 16th, Russian independent media outlet Bell announced an estimate that at least 650,000 Russians have left the country to avoid military mobilization and other issues since the military invasion of Ukraine began two years ago.
Because the Russian government does not release such statistics, the report says it calculated the figure based on official statistics from around 70 countries, and that the main destinations are countries like Armenia and Kazakhstan, where Russians can travel without obtaining a visa.
The outflow is said to be around 0.5% of the total population, but many of them are highly educated, so it points out that this is also leading to a brain drain.
